Shoreline Music: Acoustic Guitars
Quite some time ago, we sat down to record MP3s of all of our pickups in action. It seemed a great idea: head-to-head comparisons of dozens of pickups, free for the listening at any hour of the day. Well, in the meantime, two things happened. First, our small business grew dramatically. Shipping many thousands of orders a year was great for us, but left us little time for recording projects. Second, many of our customers began embarking on similar projects. Given their success, it became unnecessary for us to duplicate their efforts. By far the most ambitious of these ventures is the pickup comparison created by fingerstyle guitarist Doug Young. His comparison page includes dozens of sound files, many for pickups we carry and many for those we don't.

So, what we have here on this page are a few of our early pickup recordings, along with several graciously shared with us by customers and manufacturers. But for the most comprehensive review, do check out Doug's site. (link included with Doug's permission)

Here are our clips:

Pickup the World #27: The guitar in the above recordings is a Guild D-52. The pickup is preamped with a Raven Labs PMB-I.

B-Band (recordings c/o Mike Wong)

The AST + UST recordings are preamped onboard with a B-Band A2, and blended through a Raven PMB-1, recorded straight to disk.

K&K (recordings c/o K&K)

The Pure System on this recording is using the Pure Preamp, with a bit of reverb added before going straight to disk. The Trinity recording is blended through the Trinity Preamp, also with a hint of reverb added before going straight to disk.
