The LR Baggs Dual Source system is a miniature onboard microphone/pickup mixing system. The Dual Source is the only current LR Baggs pickup system that combines a pickup and a mic, in this case the Ribbon Transducer and a high quality FET condenser capsule. This system adds control over the blend with the Remote Control, which isn't really "remote", but it does give you "control". As you can see in the picture above, it secures unobtrusively to the edge of your guitar's soundhole (the electronics in the background are secured to the back of the guitar). In Blend mode, it allows a pan between sources and a master volume. In Split mode, it allows individual volume control over each source.

The microphone used in the Dual Source is encased in a small block of acoustically transparent foam that mounts easily on the back of the inside of the guitar with velcro. The mic is designed to use the entire back surface of the guitar as a PZM. This minimizes the effect of standing waves and hot spots inside of the guitar. Consequently, the sound is closer to that of an outside microphone than with other internal mic placements. This location also gives increased protection against feedback.

The undersaddle ribbon used in the Baggs Dual Source is available in narrow (.090") and wide (.120") profiles, depending on the width of your saddle groove. For help determining this width, please visit our FAQ.
