Kordex Cables Kordstar CablesIt was a rather serendipitous moment when, several years ago, the good folks at Pickup the World sent me a Kordex Cable with the first Enke Designs bass they shipped me. I used it several times onstage surrounded by full band, and it sounded great, but it wasn't until I had a chance to compare it to the other guitar cables we used to carry that I realized what I had been missing all along. I had been jamming in the shop for a couple of hours on my Renaissance RS6, plugged into an AER Compact 60. I switched to the Kordex cable they had sent me as a sample, and it was like I was playing an entirely different guitar—the cable was that much better than the one I had been using. It seems, too, that our customers from around the world all agree. They're all reporting back with the exact same comment after they buy their first Kordex cables: "I didn't know the cable I was using could make such a difference in my tone!". Needless to say, they're all chucking their more expensive guitar cables in favor of the better tone of their Kordexes. Also, they're no longer switching to Kordexes, since Kordex Cables has switched its name to Kordstar Cables.

There are plenty of technical reasons to like these cables, such as the high-grade oxygen-free copper wire (imported from Italy), the gold-plated connectors, and the extra heat-shrink strain relief in each jack. But it's the tonal clarity that really sets them apart. And, I'm guessing most folks will like the variety of color options on Kordex/Kordstar cables. While I used to think it was useful to have colored plastic on the connectors to tell each one apart (as is the case with Planet Waves cables), if all the cables tangled under my feet on stage were black, the color of the connectors really didn't help me figure out which was which. I have found it far more useful to make sense of my tangle of wires onstage when each cable is a different color. It's such an obvious solution to the problem, it's surprising that none of the really big guitar cable makers does this.

Given the many color and length options available for Kordex/Kordstar cables, the ordering grid on this page is a bit different than on some other pages on this website. On the left you'll find cable styles, and lengths across the top. Each length and variety of cable is available in a number of colors, which you choose from a drop-down menu in the middle of the grid. These are the guitar cables we tend to keep in stock, but Kordstar will make pretty much any cable of any variety, length, and color, so contact us if you'd like a cable you don't see here (such as a mic cable, braided cable, etc).

Kordstar makes several grades of cable, but we only sell their cables with the highest-grade gold G&H connectors and their highest-grade wire (18awg for mono, 2x23awg for stereo):
